What I've read on the use of regular lenses on digital SLRs is ambiguous. How about a Nikkor AF zoom 28-105 mm on the new D50-?
Margery: That lens should be fine with any Nikon digital SLR. If you use ultra wide angle lenses on a D SLR, you would be more likely to want one of the new lenses, designed specifically for a digital SLR.

Cheers!
I'm going to take an AI 50mm F1.4 on a trip to New England tonight. It will hardly take up any space and will be the equivalent of a 75mm F1.4 when on my D70. Wow! How much would one have to pay for a 75mm F1.4 lens of this quality?
Don't have any specific plan or use for it but for the extra four ounces it will be no trouble to drag along.
A great lens for my D70 is my old 20mm F2.8 AF. It's the equivelant of a 30mm (close enough to my preferred wide angle as my normal lens) and very small and light. Anything wider gets physically larger and heavier.
