please take note that I am an idiot when it comes to camera's and up to last Christmas, the most complicated camera I had was a Fine Pix 2600Z.. since jumping off into the digital camera's, I decided it was time to step up the pic taking experience and got my wife a Nikon D50 Digital. I am having a bit of a problem getting the Auto focus to run properly, and would love any help from the guru's here
The custom menu's do not allow me to change any setting under the Auto-Focus category in Custom settings
Any feedback would make me a hero again to my wife and my gratitude would be beyond comprehension.
Thanks and Happy Pic'in
What is it that you're trying to do, and what does the manual say about the autofocus?
The manual tells you how to set up the autofocus, but the camera itself wont allow me to set it up, the biggest problem I am having is out of focus pictures. It says that I have to press the shutter button halfway and that it will autofocus, but this has yet to happen...I have tried all the settings the book asks for and yet the camera wont react. All the settings and switches say I have everything right. AF switch is enabled, the Auto setting under pic type is enabled. The only thing I cant enable is the under the camera menu, custom settings. It wont allow me to change the auto focus program. Am I missing something?
The lens has to be an autofocus lens, and set on autofocus.
What lens are you using?
Larry, Thanks for trying to get to the bottom of this problem. I called Nikon, and thier customer service helped me out.... it was a case of disconnecting the lense, taking out the battery, and taking out the memory card... that was it. lol So all is well now, auto focus works, and I have been chasing the big mule deer here in my area, getting some great shots!
