New Plustek Scanner model

Mr. Brooks: In the December issue of Shutterbug, you recommended the Plustek OpticFilm 7500i SE or Ai 6 film/slide scanner. I was thinking of buying one, when I saw on the Plustek website that they have a new 7600i models. The main new feature appears to be the "unique light source" (according to the website) that "gives images more vivid effect and precise color rendering." It uses a white LED light source instead of the cold cathode lamp currently used. Do you know anything about this new model and how its performance (and price) compares with the earlier one?

The Plustek 7600i is not offered in the US at this time. My last word from someone involved is the US will get a 7900i with several improvements probably some time early next year.
