So I'm shopping for my first DSLR- I want to go with Nikon, but which to choose- used D100 or new D70s?
I'm a hobbyist- will be shooting typical family photos, some outdoor sports, etc. Only major desires are a quick shutter response, good AF, and photos that can be blown up to at least 8x10.
Opinions?

New D70 or D200. The D100 is old technology.

Bob,
For what you want to do with the camera I would seriously consider the Nikon D50 with the 18-70mm DX lens; it has all the basic capabilities of the D70 with the main difference being how the menus are organized. Forget about the D100; it's outdated.

It's unanimous- D100 is dated tech. I think I'll save a couple hundred and go with the D50- cash well spent on a speedlight.
Thanks for the advice!
