A Nikon FM or FM2n would be great for this. keh.com or B&H would be a great place to look. I've had good luck on ebay if you have the time and know what to look for. The worst thing about the Nikon FM is the need to replace door seals as they age. It's easy to do if you're handy. You can find this camera in excellent condition easily. There are also a lot of inexpensive lenses available for this camera.

The FE and FE2 are based on the same body and can be used full manual. Old Nikkormats are also good. They are heavier and all but the later ones require the old style lenses

The completely manual 35mm SLR that was both popular and made until recently was the Pentax K1000. It was a mainstay of smalltown newspaper reporters and student photographers, as well as others, and known for reliability as well as being one of the most affordable cameras of its day.

I was looking around ebay for P K1000 Camera and seems most of them come with 50mm lenses. If I buy one with 50mm is there I way can replace the lense with a 35mm one? Or is that the body that governs what #mm the camera is? I am not good with cameras, so I am sorry if I sound foolish.

Oh, and also some say that lense is 35-75mm or 35-50, and such, what does that mean? She needs a 35mm one, so.. I am a bit confused. I am new at this.

Just out of curiosity, why a 35mm lens? The 50mm lens is "standard" for a 35mm camera; i.e., considered neither wide angle nor telephoto. Maybe she's thinking of (most) digital SLRs, where the standard lens is 35mm?

In your search, be sure to check KEH (www.keh.com). Their prices are very reasonable, quality evaluations are accurate and the gear is warrantied. All in all, much less chance of being ripped off than with Ebay.

Also, consider the Olympus OM-1, which is still an excellent camera, and the Zuiko lenses are outstanding.

Actually she just needs a 35mm film camera, the lense can be 50mm. I was a bit confused on that portion, but I cleared things up.
