NEC P221W lcd monitor to be replaced soon?

I’m looking to buy a new lcd monitor for image editing. I like NEC and in particular their P221W-BK-SV with SpectraView which sells for less than $600 in the US. Since it was introduced back in October 2008 I wonder if anybody knows when it will be replaced.

Are there high-quality PVA or IPS monitors from other companies that I should look at? I like to spend no more than US$600.

NEC P221W 22" monitor discontinued; now what?

NEC has discontinued their 22" P221W and SpectraView version. With SpectraView it sold lately for US$550 or so. The recommended replacement, PA231W has way less color gamut and the next model up with a comparable color gamut of around 96% of AdobeRGB, the PA241W sells for around $1100 with SpectraView.

Does anybody know if NEC is going to introduce a similarly priced replacement of the P221W or can anybody recommend an equivalent for less than say US$800 including calibrator?
