Naming Images on the Nikon D50

Is there a setting on the Nikon D50 that allows you to continuously number the images without starting at 0001 each time you delete the images from the camera?

The issue I'm having is that I'll take around 80 pictures and save them on my hard drive and then take another 80 pictures but I can't then save the second set of pictures in the same file on my hard drive as they have the same names. ie DSC_0001, DSC_0002, etc.

Any ideas?

Not having worked with the D50 I can only speculate. But there should be an option in the menu for naming convention to be continuous instead of restarting each time you reformat the card.

In my D70, the File Number Sequence in the set up menu needs to be set to "on" to maintain the sequential numbering after reformatting.
