Greetings group from a newbie.
Just a little background about myself:
I've always found photography interesting but never had the time or means to buy a camera and have things to take images of. Last year I went out and bought myself a Sony Cybershot DSC-72. At first I thought the camera was pretty slick but lately I've found it seems to be holding me back or so it seems. I guess my question really is does the photographer make the camera or does the camera make the photographer? Could a professional pick up my camera and take breathtaking pictures or would he require a little more control via a more expensive camera?
I've been looking into a Canon EOS SLR 10D but it's pretty pricy and to be honest I'm new to photography and don't want to be that guy with the really good gear but no knowledge or need for it.
I see really cool pictures all over the web but are they using a cybershot with default settings or a more fancy SLR to achive these looks?
Where can I learn how to take better pictures without taking classes? It's clear just taking a ton of pictures isn't helping since my camera doesn't really allow much room to change how the picture turns out.
any advice would be greatly appricated.
