I get fairly good results with my Scan Elite 5400 when scanning slides. Not always with 35mm negs. What are the advantages - if any - using the multi sample scan ? Thanks
The usual reason for using a multipass scan technique is with slide that have large dark areas that tned to produce too much digital noise. The multi-scan operation reduces the noise in shadows and dark portion of the image. It is not an advantage ti color negative scanning. You did not mention what software you are using. If you se Lasersoft SilverFast to run the scanner, it has NegaFix and the current editions have the mens to resolve just about every problem scanning color negatives caused by all the different films there are with different characteristics.
Now I am attempting to validate the expense of upgrading with this feature and also would like to know if multi-scanning can substantially improve my scans? I am confused that the other features in the application upgrade could be applied, but I can be considerably excited about improving my scans. most youtube views
