Monitor-to-print match

I'm looking for inputs on what other people use for monitor color temperature setting/calibration and type of lighting for illuminating their prints.
1) How good is your monitor-to-print match?
2) How happy are you with that?
3) Have you found ways to improve this?
4) Specifically for lights, what types, brands, model numbers, etc. are you using?
5) Do you feel there is sufficient information easily available on this subject?

Frans, Things have changed recently and perhaps not for the best concerning monitor print matching. Due to hardware (video card LUT's) problems with proper color temps, virtually all color management is done at 6500K with 2.2 gamma. Even the experts agree that you should be able to print for tungsten viewing even with a 6500K monitor, it just takes some getting used to. Who cares if your print exactly matches your screen as long as it looks its best in the lighting you will place it in. The most important thing is that you are able to view your DRY print in the lighting it is intended for as optical brighteners in many papers totally change the look depending the UV content of the light source. The rest is experience.

NRennie, when I tweak my image I want to be able to compare what I have to far on print with what changes I make as seen on the monitor. Also, because my eyes adjust to the lighting in the room, the light of the monitor should be close in terms of color temperature and brightness, otherwise my eyes never get "stabilized" to a single light environment. Any feedback?
