Hi, What do you consider to be the best power for a modeling light (leaving out "The best you can afford")
I am looking at 250W.
Does it really matter? All a modeling light does is give you an idea where the shadows are and gives you enough light to focus. They are built into strobes and automatically go off when the strobe flashes so they don't effect exposure. You can't base your exposure on the power of a modeling light.
I am looking at 250W.
I no what a modeling light does the reason I ask for power objectives is the light I have is only 60W and I find it very difficult to see the high and shads especially when reflected back from a brolly.
I am only learning and noticed when I watched this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uH84-pA7p-c then checked the specs of equipment used I see he was useing 250W and could see clearly high and shad.
Thank You for above reply.
60 watts seems too low in power probably requiring the room to be in darkness to see the effects of the modeling lights. The modeling lights from my Dyna Lite packs have a five step brightness setting and can be blindingly bright. They even let you turn off the modeling light and keep the fan running to cool the heads.
