A question from the past. Will a lens with a Minolta M/MD mount work with a Minolta SRT 101 camera? Does the "MD" feature disqualify it? Thanks
Hi,
It should work fine. The MD lenses added a little cam
notch for the meter of the newer cameras to use both
Shutter Priority and Program automation. Your
SRT 101 lenses will also work on the newer cameras
in Aperture Priority Automation and Manual, but not Program
or Shutter Priority.
Thank you! If I may, among lenses from those days, which make would be the highest quality; Ozunon, Minolta, Chinar, Vivitar, Five Star? I'm looking for a replacement zoom lens on eBay.
First, I'd buy Minolta. Second, I would look at Tamron SP or Tokina and last Vivatar Series I. Using a mechanical camera I would make sure the zooms have a constant aperture, no variable apertures during zooming. If possible look for a two-touch lens. A seperate zoom and focusing rings are nice. You can zoom in and focus on the areas to be of interest and then reframe for content without loosing focus, I have owned Minolta equipment since the late 70's and have found these items to work the best. These are just my personal observations over the years.
