For some unexplained reason, I've become very interested in digital infrared photography. I say, "unexplained", because I'm still trying to figure out what exactly it is that I find so facinating about IR....
So,I just purchased a used, four year old Minolta Dimage 7 camera and am about to get started, and God only knows how far I'll get with this IR thing..
Today, I ordered a Hoya R72 filter and a 49-62 mm step-up ring.
So, how do I start?.... Set the ISO to a low number like 100. And go to the menu to set to Black & White... What about aperture & shutter speed?
Is a tripod or monopod really necessary?
Is the lense on the Dimage 7 okay for IR? On the lense it says..7.2-50. 8mm,
1:2 8-3.5 APO...
And, I use Photoshop Elements 3 on my Mac, but, I'm not familiar with what tools to use in PSE3...
I just came upon Shutterbug Forum website while surfing, and I liked what I
read and saw. So, I hope i can pick up some good tips on Infrared here...
Thanks,
Grumpy31 ( yes, if you do the math, I was just 74 years old)....
