Microtek I800 vs. Epson 750 vs. film scanners

David,

Do you prefer the Microtek I800 scanner to the Epson 750? How would you rate the Microtek in areas in which you said that film scanners do a better job than the Epson (b&w film faster than ASA 100)?

Also, are there any film scanners that you can recommend over the Nikons?

Martin,

I would not say I have a preference one over the other. Each has different features and specifications, as well as there is a difference in price between the Microtek i800 and the Epson V750M Pro. I have tested both scanners and the report of my evaluations are in the SB web site archives if you are interested.

I have not recommended a Nikon scanner in recent years, in fact I have avoided even testing and reporting on them. First of all because their software driver is poorly designed and functionally mediocre and they are overpriced.

Hi,
I would just add that Microtek has dropped the price of the
i800 Pro quite a bit. I note that B & H has it presently for
$369.95, which is quite a bit less than the Epson.
