I am a 35mm amature who actually owned my own darkroom and printed my own B&W for 5-6 years. But the past few years were pretty slow. Film being to expensive to really shoot much anymore... Anyway, I finally sold all my darkroom equip and got a Nikon D70 -- excellent 35mm replacement.
But now I am finding that I really want to try going back to film in the MF size. I would scan all my negatives, and use the digital darkroom for editing and printing.
I am going to start collecting the parts to my first MF camera. I am looking for a body right now -- and I really don't mind getting one that is completely battery free, no meter, nothing -- but, will I be able to find lenses, parts, etc? By looking for an older camera body will I be dooming myself to problems and low quality? Will getting the film bought, and developed be a problem? I'm looking to do strictly portraits and landscapes with this MF camera, and keep the D70 as my travel, fun, everything camera. i.e., I would shoot 20-30 shots per year with the Mamiya, but over 10k with the D70!!
What about the various Mamiya 645 or RZ or RB 67 formats?
Thanks, I hope I am clear on what I am asking.
