I have a sony alpha 100. I want to make macro images with my camera. I have a Tamron 28-300mm Macro lens, and was wondering if I should go out and get just a Macro lens. any suggestions?

1:3 magnification and 18 inches close focusing distance. You can do better with a real macro lens if you're serious about shooting macro. With a real macro lens, you'll be able to focus 1:1. You should probably look at something in the 100mm range so you won't have to get so close.

If you're using an Alpha, then Minolta fits the mounting. A good "older" Minolta macro lens would work out well.
I am the most unethical macro shooter and use a 90mm Tamron, but my favourite macro's are taken using telephoto lenses with homemade adapters.
Make it work!
