Hello,
I'm looking into getting a macro lens, but the Canon Macro lenses are rather expensive. I'm considering trying out a Sigma macro lens. Has anyone had any experience with Sigma lenses? Are they of decent quality? How do they compare to the Canon macro lenses?
Thanks Preston
Check out www.fredmiranda.com for reviews on hundreds of lenses. Sigma 105mm/Tamron 90mm are decent Macro lenses but Canon seems to get the vote of the users.

I'm using the Sigma 180/4 with my Canon 1D Mark II. I'm very happy with the lens, excellent sharpness and contrast.
I have the sigma 105 that I use with the 300D and I'm very happy with it. Sometimes in low light it has a tendancy to hunt if AF. Here is a shot I took at the San Diego Zoo, through glass of course.

Thank you for your input. I just received my Sigma 50/2.8. It is the new version not the old one. I am very pleased with this Lens!! Oh, nice shot Zach, even through the glass it looks good.
