taking pictures where no flash allowed at friends indoor band.....lighting should be very low.....any suggestions....using D70
Try bumping up the iso but if you go too high you will get alot of noise. You can also try to use the auto iso where the camera will choose the speed for you. Good luck.
fast ISO and a mono or tripod...Also, look for light splashed onto musicians and crowd shots. Good luck
Though I realize that this advice is a day late and a dollar short, don't forget the Automatic setting on that camera. THIS is a shot I took in July of '03 of the Grateful Dead at the Ice Palace in Tampa. I was about 300' from the stage using my CoolPix 880. Though I tried all sorts of things, the ones which turned out best were the ones taken with the auto settings - the little flash went off and everything.
Admittedly this is a completely different situation than taking shots of a friend's band, but it did teach me that there's a certain value to sometimes simply letting the camera decide.
