Let Photoshop or Epson manage color when printing?

Greetings,

It is almost always recommended to let Photoshop do the color management when printing and turn the printer color management off. Photoshop, it is asserted, does a better job. However, when I print a multi-colored test image (David Brooks' 4x5 TEST.jpg) both ways on my Epson Stylus Photo 2200, I can't see any difference, no matter how hard I try (I have used high-quality lighting with a very high CRI, normal incandescent lamps and compact fluorescent lamps to evaluate both images).

What method would you recommend and why? Why don't I see a difference? Your inputs will be very welcome.

I have an r2400 so I don't know if this will help--

I let ps do the color management and in the advanced properties check ICM and then check off (no color adjustment)--
