Lens Interchangeability (Minolta mount on Canon)

Hello!

Any help is VERY much appreciated. I can't believe I can't find the answer anywhere!

I have a Minolta 35mm SLR with a Tamron 28-200mm lens that I would love to use on a new Canon Digital Rebel XT/350D. Is this possible? What adapter do I need? Do I retain autofocus etc?

As I live in Tokyo right now, communication is a problem in the stores and unfortunately Tamrons customer service via the website is rubbish, so any information you can spare is greatly appreciated.

No, you can't use your Minolta mount lens on a Canon body. You may be able to find another copy of your Tamron lens in Canon EF mount. Look on the used market to save some money.

Thanks so much for bothering to reply, I had heard this information from a shop staff over here, but I was finding it diificult to believe, I thought it would be a simple matter of realigning the electronic pickups.

I would consider the Minolta D7 if it didn't cost more than the EOS with 2 lenses!
