Great site. Just found through google. I have recently gotten back into photography which I love but I need some help. I have purchased an older Maxxum 7000 off of ebay (the camera works great) and would like to purchase a wide angle telephoto lens. What should I look for and where do I look. I have looked on ebay but I an not sure WHAT to look for so I don't know good from bad. Can anyone help?
There's no such thing as a wide angle telephoto lens. They are two different lens designs. There are, however zoom (variable focal length) lenses that include short focal lengths (wide angle) and long focal lengths (telephoto) in one design. The best place for you to look is in your local camera store. You will learn what you need to know by handling several lenses and seeing what they will do for you when you put them on your camera than you will learn from buying a photographic pig in a poke from an online source. You should also get yourself a basic photography book such as Kodak's The Joy of Photography to acquire some base line photographic knowledge about how the whole imaging system works. All cameras operate on the same principles.
