Hi, I'm new to this and am trying to get the most bang for my buck (I'm a college student and poor). I am wanting both a digital and 35mm system. According to Canon's website their Rebel line and some of their digitals use the same lenses. The really cute girl I talked to in the camera store said that Pentax is better for lens transferability between formats. HELP. Which would be a better choice for lens crossover?
Sorry for my long-windedness and thanks.
HC
I don't think you'd have a problem with any of the current AF lenses from Canon. There are a couple of new lenses that work only with the Digital Rebel and 20D - these are the EF-S
The Pentax will likely be a better choice if you have older Pentax lenses already.
True the Pentax takes quite a few past and present mounts but like Jon said it would depend on what if any lenses you might already own. The Pentax does take many lenses but some might not offer full compatibility with advanced metering and focusing systems in that digital camera.
Thanks Jon,
I'm starting from scratch, so any system would be ok in that respect. I just can't afford 2 completely different systems.

One sometimes needs to be wary of camera store employee answers as to the "best".
Canon doesnot pay out "spiffs" to the saleaman as do many of the other companies; employees can be a bit prjudiced because of this.
RonK,
You mean I shouldn't trust the extremely cutr red-head that if perfectly willing to flirt with the overweight, married customer whose wife is 2ft. away?
But seriously, a buddy of mine that is much more in the know said the same thing.
Thanks all,
HC
All I passed along is from what I remembered from working in a camera store and where I was told MY money was, and I assume the company's.
Ordinarily I'd say no you shouldn't, but if she's a redhead.....

Sorry, just a personal weakness creeping in.
