Dear David:
I have narrowed my choice of camera to the Leica V-LUX 1 or the Panasonic DMC-FZ50K. Some feel paying "extra" for the Leica is a waste, as they claim these two models are essentially the same.
I have come to the conclusion, through experience and the rantings of others, that Panasonic may have the worst customer service (at least on the consumer side) of any corporation in this world of any noteworthy size.
On the other hand, my impression of Leica, which is based on nothing more than my perception gleaned from some photography aficionados over the years, is that of a long standing world renknowned purveyor of products of the highest caliber.
This impression, as well four or so distinctions between the two, which seem to be in Leica's favor, and my inclination to almost always choose the manufacturer specifically in the business of making a product, as opposed to one that is better known primarily for other products, have me leaning heavily towards the Leica.
I will be most appreciative for any advice you can provide, even if it is a suggestion or recommendation of something other than these two models.
Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.
