I am in the market for a new monitor as my old trusty Sony g400s have just about had it. I am a web designer by trade but I like to do digital fine art, printing out to my Epson 2400 printer.
I know Eizo is considered the best but they are out of my price range....specifically their coloredge line.
I am highly interested in the Samsung 244t. David Brooks talks about it here in this post and gives it a high recommendation.

I also have the SpyderPro calibrator, so is the monitor easy to calibrate? David said it was a little harder than it would take for a Apple lcd. Is it easy to change the whitepoint?
Is there any banding in the gradients? Is it really that good for photo editing and color correcting? David said it rivals higher end models. Good darks and lights? good range of values?
I have a Mac so is this monitor mac compatible? I looked at some of its software, and they seem to be PC only....or can we get by without that software?
I really want to move on this buy so any suggestions would be great. I have also looked at the Eizo s2410, which is comparable to the 244t....would that model be better than the Samsung? It's more expensive though and no one seems to have it in stock right now.
Thanks!
