Hello,
I am new to the forum. I have looked at the previous string of posts on monitors which didn't end up having a whole lot to do with monitor selection so I'm posting a new one with questions more specific to models I'm interested in. I am looking for an LCD monitor for photo-editing/color correction. I purchased a ViewSonic VP930B after reading a number of good reviews on it and some saying it could be used for graphics work, but the monitor is actually crap (maybe it's just because I'm used to a CRT). So I will be getting a new one. What's important to me is accurate color and full tonal gradation. I am considering the LaCie 321, the Eizo CE210W, and the Eizo CG19. The CG19 price is scary, but I might consider it if it really is worth it. One thing attractive about the CE210W is the 8 ms midtones (since I will probably use it for gaming as well), but the 1000:1 contrast concerns me. Is that something I should be concerned about? Will my highlights be blown out? I am slightly wary of this model because it does not seem to be as targeted toward photo-editing, etc. Overall Eizo seems to have a better repuation and better products than LaCie, but would anyone have an idea if the CE210W is better than the LaCie 321 for photo editing? Between the CE210W and the CG19, why should I pay $500 more for a CG19 when it is a smaller screen, slower gray to gray, and doesn't seem to have that much more that is better? I understand that these might not be entirely answerable questions, but thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
