Hello, I have been lurking for a while but thought I would join and see if I can make a contribution. I have been taking photographs as long as I can remember. I have a photo of myself at around 12 years old with an Argus 75 hanging around my neck. I took a lot of photos with that camera. That was 50 years ago. I have gone through a lot of cameras since then. I spent 34 years working for the Coast Guard, 20 in uniform and 14 as a civilian engineer in Boating Safety. My photos started showing up in Coast Guard publications in the 90's. In 2004 I retired (finally!) and decided to get more serious about photography. I have a personal web site and a Pro site on Printroom. I have had a few things published. I even had one in Shutterbug in 2003.
Mostly I photograph whatever takes my fancy (a perk of being retired) but I like marine photography the most. Boats boats and more boats. I bought a Canon 20 D in 2005 but I still do occasional film photography, mostly 35 mm, but I have a couple of old medium format cameras that I get a kick out of using.
I also like collecting old cameras. I have about a dozen dating from the 40's up to the present. My favorites.
Agfa Simplex folder using 120 film
RollieCard using 120 film
Pentax P3 35 mm
Minolta XE-7 35 mm. (my absolute fave)
Glad to be here. I hope to get to know all of you better.
