Northern New Mexico offers a rich cultural mixture, great scenery, and a diverse range of environments, from desert to towering red rock formations to lush alpine meadows to deeply cut river valleys. It’s a photographer’s paradise, which is why you should consider “Taos: A Photographic Adventure Workshop” from July 11-17, 2015.

Led by Shutterbug Editor-at-Large George Schaub, who has been photographing in and around Taos since 1984, this weeklong workshop will explore hidden back roads and hike trails to find exciting photo opportunities. Along the way there will be field discussions and demonstrations that will make it a hands-on experience designed to enhance your images and technique.

Areas visited might include the Rio Grande Rift Valley, Ghost Ranch and the Abiquiu area, home to Georgia O’Keeffe, and Great Sand Dunes National Park. There will also be a raft trip down the Rio Grande and a special afternoon at the Taos Powwow.

In the evenings attendees can sample some of the great food or visit galleries in and around Taos, as well as take part in tech and critique sessions and relaxation at Schaub’s home in Taos, which will serve as the workshop HQ.

You’ll come away with an appreciation for what this diverse area offers as well as newfound skills for your future image-making adventures.
