Joe, I am not familiar with these models, but my best advice is to get the camera that has the features YOU need/want. If it means waiting a bit to scrape up the cash, so be it; I believe you will be better off that way rather than finding out afterwards that you need to "upgrade" and thereby spend 2x the money.

Panasonic is more $$ than Minolta based on interesting. Have you consider DSLR? Like

I agree don't jump the gun. Do your research and then ask plenty of questions. It took me two months before I choose to purchase my Fuji S5100. I balanced my needs and wants with the best for the money. I am happy with what I choose, but wanting a DSLR as my next camera.

I understand a tight budget. I think the guys are right make sure you buy what will suit your needs. If you are new to digital spend time searching reviews and look toward future needs. When on a tight budget I know a few hundred will make a big difference, but if you buy strictly by price you may not enjoy what you get. A lot of the point and shoot digitals now are very good for the price. Fuji and Minolta are known to be user friendly and produce good results. Monte Johnson.
