HP8750 printer - Truly Archival Prints?

Wilhelm-Research has published their study as to the print permanence of the new Vivera inks used by the HP8750, a 13x19 printer.

Some fairly impressive print longevity numbers (108-115 years.)

When using certain papers, HP is competitive with Epson printers using the new K3 inks.

This printer is very nice when it works. The first one I had would not feed paper. The one I have now (bought it in August) has to be returned as the USB connection no longer works. The support HP is great and will replace the printer and pay for the return of the defective one.

Peter,

All that Wilhelm-Research tests do is measure whether the ink fades under accelerated aging by exposure to light. It does not in any way test whether HP's plastic coated paper will last any length of time. Unless the prints are vacuum sealed and kept in cold storage, I doubt the paper will survive more than one generation.

Unless you are printing on ISO rated archival paper (100 years) does it matter how long the ink remains without fading?
