A casual glance through these Olympus posts would confirm that there's a lot I like about the four thirds format and Oly DSLRs, and that I've made a rather large bet on them (two bodies and seven lenses plus accessories). I have a standing order for the new pro body when it comes out next Fall.
Still, I'm starting to have cold feet and would like to know others' experiences with Olympus quality control and warranty service. I've had warranty related repairs on an improperly focusing lens (the 50-200 2.8-3.5) and currently a faulty chip (in my E-330), and Oly seems to take a long time even to get the camera in their computer. (Perhaps this is typical; I have another posting asking about the length of time that other manufacturers take.) It seems to me that the last chance to switch for me will be in the decision to buy the pro body, so I am seeking a better sense of whether my quality/warranty experiences are typical or simply unfortunate. Thanks.

Here I go replying to myself! Anyway, what I've just been told by the sales guy I trust is that he'd never buy from the first production run of any camera. I had one of the first E-330s. He suggests I wait on the pro body until it's been de-bugged.

No problems encountered with the E-1, 14-54, 50-200 or FL 50.
I broke a C5050 and Oly sent a new replacement camera for $50.

I should give Olympus credit. I'd been concerned about the time they took on my E-330 (lost red channel). Turns out they replaced the entire camera body.
