How to regain "autosizing" in Photoshop?

When I just start up CS, my images "autosize" for lack of a better word: the window size adjusts to the image size so the whole image shows as long as it is smaller than the room available on my monitor and no up/down or left/right tabs appear next to the image window. Now, after I have viewed the image by double-clicking on the top blue title bar and gone back to Standard Screen Mode, the window size stays the same and not the whole image shows. How can I restore what I call "autosize" and what is the correct term anyway?

The only way that I know to restore "autosize" is to quit Photoshop and start over; incredibly annoying to say the least.

Frans, hitting the "F" key cycles the screen through it's various presentation modes, including the one generated by double-clicking on the blue (image title) bar. At least, it does in CS3, and I'm pretty sure it works in CS, too......

Bill,

Yes, it cycles through the three viewing modes but doesn't restore what I call "autosizing".

Hopefully, I believe I know what you mean? If so, then Open at least two photos, go to Windows>Arrange> (pick out what you like, ie. tile vertically) they will fall into place in a vertical direction left-to-right. Each will appear independently and you can work on each independently. Tile as many as you like at one time to the limit when you are told. Hope this is it?

Nope, that doesn't restore "autosize". Anybody else have an idea?

Just trash your preference file and when you launch PS it will make a new one set to defaults. And are you talking about the zooming preference anyway. It can be set to make the window bigger automatically or to leave the frame the same and zoom inside the area you have stretched the window to fit.
