Can you do this? I've got a 40G portable hard-drive but no idea if this is possible.
Theoretically portable hard drives can be used to store digital camera files. However, the particular drive must have the means to read a digital camera memory card as well as the firmware to transfer the files on the memory card to the hard drive.
There are some portable hard drives sold with this capability, and some are advertised regularly in Shutterbug. Not long a go I wrote in the magazine about the Epson P2000, which has this capability as well as a very large high resolution LCD screen that supports image viewing playback. It is really the cream of the crop of portable hard drives that support digital cameras.
Very handy. I bought mine on ebay for $18.00...
