Help!! Ixus 400, how do I increase shutter speed??

Hey everyone,
I've had an IXUS 400 for a pretty long time now and I love shooting with it, except in concert type situations, especially standing ones. Would anyone know how I could increase the shutter speed so I shoot photos of artists on stage as they move, without it turning into a terrible blurred mess?

I know more advanced cameras these days somehow make that work fine, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for an IXUS 400?

I do not know if it is possible with this particular camera, but:
1-have you tried a higher iso?
2-if the camera can be put in maual or shutter priority mode you can adjust the shutter speed upwards.
3-what is the widest aperture value you can set?
By combining the factors of iso, aperture and shutter speed you should be able to capture stage shows w/o motion blur using just the stage lighting. Flash is sometime forbidden, which would be my obvious solution to the problem, if the flash were powerful enough to span the camera to subject distance. In the past, I have shot iso's of 800, 1600 and 3200 at F4 and F5.6 @ 1/60 and 1/125 to capture ballet dancers, eg.

Hey there thanks so much for the info, as I'm pretty new to this, don't even know what ISO is but I can see it on my screen when I set it to manual. It is currently set at 50.

Does anyone know what to press to change it? I've tried fiddling about but the menu options doesn't seem to alter the ISO.

Also, when it is in manual mode, the photos (which I always shoot without flash) seem brighter and a little more bleached than they would be if I was shooting on auto. Any suggestions?
