Hi everyone, I should have posted this question here instead of in the general 35mm room, so here it goes, thanks in advance for your help: I am a novice with a Canon EOS Rebel T2 35mm Autofocus SLR Camera. I want to have zoom power so I can go aout and shoot wild life (it would be nice if it worked for portraits as well). I would like to spend somewhere around $300, is it possible to get a good zoom lense at this around this price?, if so, which one would you recommend for my camera and where can I get it? Thanks again
Diego

Actually you can get the Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 for less than that. It will work well for portraits, but might be a little short for wildlife. I have the IS version of this lens and love it. I use it with a Kenko 1.5x teleconverter for wildlife.

Thank you Flareside, I appreciate your help. By the way, and please forgive my ignorance, is the Kenko 1.5x teleconverter sort of an attachment that you use in addition to your Canon 75-300mm ?

Yes it goes between the lens and the camera body. It multiplies the focal length of your lens by 1.5x. That makes the 75-300mm a 112.5-450mm. It does cost you one stop of light, and your camera will not autofocus.
