I am taking group pictures of anywhere from 12 to 20 people. I use a canon 40 d camera with a speed light flash. Why are only the people in the center of my picture in focus and not out to the edge. Could this be because I need more flash to spred out more light or does this have something to do with my meetering mode on the camera?
I don't think I have to shallow depth of field. I have 3 rows of people all three are in focus in the center of my pic but not on the edge.

More information is needed. What lens, focal length, aperture and shutter speed are you using? Is the flash direct or bounced into something to soften and spread the light? Are you using a tripod?
