Getting Started in Photoshop? Here’s How to Use Layer Masks to Edit Difficult Images (VIDEO)

Last week we featured Episode 1 in a new how-to series by image-editing expert Anthony Morganti, designed for those of you new to Photoshop and Lightroom. Here, in Episode 2, you’ll learn how to use Layer Masks to properly balance photos with both bright highlights and dark shadows.

In Episode 1 Morganti provided an introduction to Layers, which he says represents the “bedrock of Photoshop.” The new video below builds on that first tutorial by providing real-world examples of how you can use Layer Masks to arrive at a perfect exposure when editing difficult images.

In less than 30 minutes Morganti will make you feel like an expert in applying these techniques with either Photoshop or Lightroom. You can find more helpful tutorials on Morganti’s YouTube channel, and be sure to look at Episode 1 which we shared last week.
