Though I've never done a wedding, I assume that referrals through satisfied customers is how most wedding jobs are obtained. That and having a web site with good key words and pictures that would make someone want to hire you.

Question for you. What was your original business plan? You obviously had to have some kind of roadmap to your goals when you started your business.

I started off doing a lot of extreme sports stuff and selling my photos for ads and catalog work, things with that really slowed down so I began to shoot some weddings and what not so it was not really planed but just kinda went in that direction. So I have been working on my portfolio to get that out to some florist to put in there stores along with my website. And like you said word of mouth, that is about all I have as of now. But am always looking on ways to get out there!

Now concentrate on what makes your work different (your vision or specialty) and use that as the center of your promotional material. It always comes down to why would someone want to hire you instead of the next photographer.
