With any camera that has a built in flash, you set the flash to go off when a picture is taken in a situation that requires fill flash. The camera whould be smart enough to balance the exposure with the amount of flash. Problem shooting film is that you don't know if it's the correct amount of flash until you get the film back. If it were digital, you just look at the LCD and judge whether you can see detail in the bright areas.
