filter question

I would like to purchase a polarizing filter for my Canon 28-135mm Auto focus zoom lens. What is the difference between a linear and circular polarizer? Also what is the proper filter for my application?

There is a tendency for linear polarizers to confuse the autofocus feature common in most lenses today. Circular polarizers were developed to eliminate this confusion. You will definitely want a circular polarizer if you plan to use your camera's autofocus feature. If you focus manually, either filter will work just fine.

Not sure what you mean by "proper filter for my application"?

Thanks for the info Bill. You gave me the information that I needed. Sorry for confusion. I needed to know what filter to purchase circular or linear. Again, thanks for the help.
