Exposure Latitude

Back when I was shooting film I had a pretty good idea what the available latitude was for the ones I used. Now I am in the dark.

I shoot RAW in my new E-510, using the factory settings on manual. Assuming I have made an incident light reading with an external meter, what's the latitude? Can it be expressed in stops? How much up? How much down? Or does anyone know this? I would be glad to have an educated guess.

in my experience digital latitude seems to be in the 3-4 stop range like slide film. Once the highlights are lost they are gone forever. Fortunately you can under expose and bring back detail in an image editing program using curves or the highlight shadow tool.
The use of graduated nd filters is helpful with digital as for film.
