Adding EXIF data to an image that has had it's EXIF data stripped out, or adding information to editable fields in the EXIF data?

If anyone is using "Save For Web" in Photoshop or Elements, it's stripping out the EXIF data for a slightly smaller file size image. That's how I create my web JPEGs.

Yes save for web removes the EXIF as it's making the file as small as it can for quicker loading speeds. but just a normal save as JPG should not do so. I use Adobe CS3 master collection and I haven't had any problems with any EXIF data being removed from my works.
