Epson R1800 stops after printing half a page

Setup:
Pentium 4 SP4 with 2GB RAM
W2000
Photoshop CS2 and Paint Shop Pro 7

First, the R1800 was printing a page and when I wanted to print the next page it stopped with an error message. I had to switch it off and restart it print after each page.

Now, the R1800 stops after printing half an A4 (letter size) page even after re-starting.

The problem occurs when printing from both PS and PSP.
Another printer (HP PSC750) prints without problems from both PS and PSP.

Any clue what to look for?

I did have a similar problem with an Epson 1270, a couple of years back. The solution for me was to plug the printer directly into one of my computer's USB ports instead of through a USB hub.
