David - I see you tested them both. I do primarily high gloss color portraits (some limited BW work). I was leaning toward the 2400 but have been told the color would be noticeably better on the R1800 or even the R800. I have tried to test the same print on both but have not been able to do so. As you seem experienced in both, I was wondering if you had a reaction. The $$ are not really the issue -- I simply want to get the best prints. Thanks.

The K3 inks used with the Epson R2400 are definitely superior to the older generation Ultrachrome inks that are used by the R800 and R1800 proving at least as good and in many cases better color, as well as very effective monochrome and B&W prints.
