Epson 2000P printer - lines on photo, any ideas??

I have an Epson 2000P A3 inkjet printer which prints excellent quality prints, except for one thing - along either the left hand side of the photo as you look at it (portrait), or along the bottom (landscape), about an inch in, there are 2 lines which appear along the photo, a kind of "score" or "tramline", as if the roller is making a groove along the paper as it moves along, if you know what I mean !! I've tried everything I can think of but I just can't get rid of them. I've cleaned the nozzles etc but I don't think that is the problem, otherwise it would occur all over the print, and the line isn't like you would get with "banding". Sometimes they are hardly visible, sometimes you can see them more clearly. In all cases, they stop about an inch short of the end of the print, and they occur both on A3 and A4, as it is the edge of the paper that is always aligned with the print holder. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this ??

If the lines are along the length of the paper as it travels through the printer, there is something that is possibly hitting the paper surface like a small piece of paper caught in the path of the paper immediately after it passes the printhead. First make an inspection of all you can access and see in the mechanism of the printer using a flashlight and a small mirror, and see if you can visually identify any foreign bit that could touch the print surface as the paper passes through the printer.

If this does not result in anything I am afraid a technician capable of taking the printer apart and cleaning it may be the logical next step to take.

Thankyou very much for that - I hadn't thought about a tiny piece of "something" which could be making a tiny groove in the photo !! Another thing I thought it could be was the pincewheels (or whatever they are called) which move the paper along as it is printing - the lines are always parellel and in the same place. It's as if something is scraping (albeit gently) the ink off the photo as it moves along the rollers. I can just about feel the "groove" in the ink. I tried to have a look inside from the front earlier on but I didn't have a torch, so couldn't see very much !! I'll have a look tomorrow when it's daylight. Thanks again, Mari
