I set my camera to shoot B&W and went out this bright snowy morning. However, when I download photos to my computer they are all in color. No doubt I had the settings on the camera correct. What gives? Any idea? Also, on the camera, the photos look b&W on the preview screen.
One more thing...all photos are shot RAW.
New experience shooting B&W in JPG mode...the transfer is in B&W. So, is it true, or a problem with my camera, that you cannot shoot B&W in RAW?
RAW is the unprocessed data output of the sensor - thus RGB. It is a means of containing the data to be transported to an external RAW processing program, like Adobe Camera RAW or the software that was bundled with the camera. Even when shooting JPEGs, it begins with this data.
When shooting JPEGs, the camera applies all the settings to this RAW data, and then discards it, saving only the processed JPEG. It is the choice of processing in camera or externally. Only if you had a sensor that could not record colour data, could you actually get B&W RAW.
