OK, guys, here's a question that came up on another forum and got the usual avalanche of disparate responses: If you focus on an object exactly at the minimum focus distance for that lens and at an aperture of f/22, for instance, will anything inside the minimum focus distance still be in focus, or is that the brick wall? My feeling is that nothing inside minimum focus distance will be sharp, regardless of DOF prediction. I don't have any money down on this so if I'm wrong, I can handle it.....

With my Fuji it seems that DOF does not matter at minimum focus. Everything inside that is not sharp. I have tried aperture settings from f8-F22. It makes no difference. Monte Johnson.

I have also noticed this on the GA645Zi, and it has resulted in some interesting pictures (where I was shooting flowers, and some wound up being closer than minimum focus) -- it results in a very interesting 3D effect, and happens regardless of the aperture setting.
