digital Rebel and 580ex flash timing!

My digital rebel and 580 ex flash timing is off and every so often flash wont go off and picture is very blurry can give me any suggestions?thanz! DRM

Check to see what the sync mode is on the flash and the camera. If you have it set to rear curtain, it won't go off until the end of the exposure which will blur the image to simulate movement.
