Yes so many times we have to do a work-around to get something done because the tools we have available were really not originally intended for photo use. So many photographers unfortunately have the impression the photo industry is much bigger than it is. They don't realize a digital LCD projector's primary market is to do PowerPoint presentations in the business world, not reproduce slide shows. It is like the LCD problem, too many photographers don't realize the foundation of availability of displays for computers, particularly specialized displays for graphics, is what is manufactured for the TV industry that is a 100 or even a 1000 times or more greater in size.

You soon learn that going to trade shows with PMA (Photo Marketing Association) annual show that's just a fraction of the size of the Consumer Electronics Show or even what Comdex (the computer show that outgrew itself) was.

Photography is so often just the tail of the dog I'm afraid. In that regard so is computing, which was so evident when iPod sales far outstripped Apple's computer sales.

Too bad there isn't a business need for a digital projector that would be comparable to the old analog Rollei 6x6cm projectors.

Digital display devices follow the proportion of monitors. And when they start making square monitors, there will be a need for square output digital projectors. But hopefully it won't go the other way with wide screen monitors because, though diagonally larger, they really display verticals in a proportionally smaller area.
