Hi,
I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I am asking a question that has already been discussed.
I took some glamour photos. They are very tasteful but I don't want to take them down to the local "Walmart" and print them out. Any ideas?

I assume you've taken nudes. If that's the case, no matter how tasteful, Wal-Mart employees are instructed not to print them. Same with Costco or Walgreen. You need to take them to a "custom" lab, not a big box store to have them printed.
You'll also get better prints at a custom lab, and a higher probablility of getting back negatives that aren't scratched.
Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Do you guys recommend any labs?
Look in your local yellow pages. You need to have good communication with your lab.
Amen to that! There's simply no substitute for a good personal working relationship with folks who know you by sight when it comes to this sort of thing. That applies to the local camera shop too, which can be an invaluable source of advice specific to your locality.
Incidentally, several folks have mentioned that since the machines are standardized, it's possible to get excellent results from practically any place that has the automatic developers. The same principle of knowing the folks operating the machines benefitting you applies here too - they can tell you if the chemicals have been recently refreshed. In many cases, and assuming the store isn't busy, they can print your glamor shots also - most folks will bend the rules for a good customer if the likelihood of getting noticed is low.

A worthwhile alternative is to get an ink-jet photo printer, and do them at home. Even a $100 bottom-of-the-line printer will do a fine job, as long as you do a bit of image processing. It also means that you can crop them any way you want, print in a variety of sizes, and even do some corrections if you made mistakes. Some skills must be learned, if you have not done any digital darkroom work before, but learning is a big part of the fun and there are lots of forums around to help you.
