i just bought the 20d and cant get the pics bright. my friend has the same camera and said something was wrong.i took the same shot with my rebel and the pic was perfect.the 20d also made there faces look very red.can anyone help
Ideas:
1-are you looking at prints, the monitor or lcd?
2-what settings are you using on both cameras for saturation, etc.?
Do you have a manual? If not, you can download one from the Canon site.
Also check to make sure the camera isn't set for something like -2 exposure compensation.
the camera is in auto mode not much i can change
i was looking at the pics on computer
When I got my 10D, I wrestled with the same problem until I got out my Sekonic and took a reading. My camera was underexposing by two stops. In addition, the white balance was a monster to set. My on-camera flash didn't expose correctly. I sent my camera back to Canon twice and TADA my 10D is underexposing about 1 stop in all modes WITHOUT the on-camera flash. The white balance is very good and I can use AWB for almost any non-critical situation.
With the Sigma flash it's a wild ride. That baby is still under warranty, so it's going back to where it came from. If you think there's a problem, take some images, burn them to disk, then send the camera and the CD to Canon.
I suggest that you have some prints made from unmanipulated files before you send the camera in. You may have a monitor problem. You need to eliminate that possibility first.

This is a tough one without being able to see the photo. What was it of, in house with lights on/off, outdoors daylight/night, was a flash used....etc...etc...
Set the camera to AV mode and set it to about f/8 iso at 200 and go out side during mid-day or so and take a pic of your car and see what you get, just for kicks, change lenses if you have two and take another pic and compare the two.

I just got a 20D also and have been having adjustment issues. The AWB doesn't do well with indoor lighting and from forum's I've picked up that Canon tends to be on the warm side, so at first the reds really stand out.
I'll be watching this thread to see what info will help me too!
Best Wishes!
I've had the same problem, try setting your white balance to flash and use the exposure compensation to +1/3, while holding the shutter button halfway down push the FEL (*) and the flash will fire settting the correct flash exposure. Now thake the picture. OR do a custom white balance for the room you are in, this is explain in the manual. Custom White Balance works the best.
Have fun!
